Student Organizational Grant Application

You may choose to complete your SOGS application online, or you can download a copy of the SOGS application and carefully follow the instructions in the file to complete your application.



  • The Social Science SOGS application is a two part process

    • Step 1: Complete the SOGS application cover letter

    • Step 2: Complete and attach your proposal given the criteria stipulated below



  • Please Complete this application process with detail and care, the more detailed and accurate the application is the easier it is for the Finance Committee to review and decide on your application. Vague and inaccurate applications will not be reviewd until they meet the standards we request.

  • Multiple submissions are allowed but only one submission will receive funding

Proposal Requirements



  • State the name and size of your student organization, and its affiliation to the Social Science faculty.

  • What are the requested funds being used for: special event? Yearlong programming? Other?

  • Provide a detailed breakdown of how these funds are being utilized

  • Provide us with up-to-date financial statements of your student organization (two years sufficient)

    • Your financial statements bear heavily in the decision making process, take care in providing detailed financial statements. Lack of detail or misinformation may result in dismissal of your application.

    • Projected income statements and balance sheets should be included

    • If you are an individual student applying financial statements are not neccessary but you must provide a detailed breakdown of how the funds will be used.



  • You must prove that by receiving this funding you as an individual or student organization will thereby provide substantial benefit or growth to the Social Science community.

  • Lastly, there are many individuals and student organizations applying for funding, make it clear what sets your application apart? This will also be weighted very heavily in the decision of your funding.

  • Please submit and electronic copy of your proposal and all supporting information using the upload field below. Alternatively, you can e-mail your proposal and documents to sogs@ssscwestern.ca
